About kaylyn Ahrendt, licsw
You don’t have to carry this all on your own.
I’m a Minnesota-based therapist who specializes in person-focused therapy. I offer a dynamic, personalized approach while being highly empathetic to your lived experiences. I love leading people to those “a-ha” moments when they need them most.
please Hear me when I say:
We all have our things, and everyone could use a therapist at some point.
I want you to know that even the people who appear to have it all together, do not always. In truth, the people we find ourselves in comparison with, or striving to be like, often times go to therapy themselves at some point…because we all have our things that we could use a safe space to process through.
How I work
At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that human connection is the catalyst to healing.
When you are able to show up, as you are, without judgement you can allow yourself to be vulnerable to process through past trauma, anxious thoughts, and all of the things holding you back.
In sessions with me, we will increase your emotional intelligence and gain a better understanding of yourself. We will process through past and current relationships, while working to establish healthy boundaries and effective communication.
Therapy with me is…
-
While I can help guide our time together, we will start with where you’re at and what you choose to bring to each session.
-
You are coming to therapy to hear the raw, honest feedback from an objective perspective.
This is where you can also be honest in your feedback with what you are looking for from a therapist. I am often able to be fluid based on your needs. Do you like blunt, straight forward honesty? Or would you prefer a more gentle approach? Maybe you are not sure yet - and that is okay! I can usually pick up on this pretty quickly and will adjust my style accordingly.
-
This is a small community. Your privacy and confidentiality are a priority to me. To maintain professionalism and protect your confidentiality, if I see you outside of the office, I will not acknowledge that I know you in any way. The things that you bring to therapy will not leave the office or be discussed with anyone unless there is a valid release of information signed by you on file.
-
The surface level stuff is easy and may be where we start while building the therapeutic relationship, but that is not why you are coming to therapy, and I will be ready to dive in when you are.
